This site is located at the University of Michigan.  It is the largest Internet Macintosh FTP site in the world.  New files are added daily and a new files directory lets users easily navigate through new files.

Files are categorized by Applications, Games, Fonts, System Extensions, Utilities, Virus

An excellent site that is well organized.

sumex-aim.stanford.edu:

This site is located at Stanford University in California.  You can bet this place is always hopping with the trendiest stuff around.  If you want it, Sumex has it!

This is AppleÕs Internet site.  It is stuffed full of useful Apple add-ons such as Quicktime and even every System Enabler!  It is a great resource if you can connect. The server is either shut down half the time or it is so overloaded, it wonÕt even give you the time of day.  Get used to spending lots of time waiting when it comes to anything associated with Apple!

ftp.funet.fi:

This is an European site that shadows Sumex-Aim, but it also has a number of original files.  I do believe that this is run from a workstation using Unix.

This site is GIF and JPEG happy. Graphic are the staple here.  There is still bundles of other interesting files available.

irisa.irisa.fr:

If you are interested in the newsgroups, this is the site for you!  irisa keeps a very large archive with all of the newsgroup postings.  Very handy indeed!

ux1.cso.uiuc.edu:

This is a massive archive that has copies of a local user groupÕs shareware/freeware disks. It is not updated regularly and when dowloading these disk copies, one doesnÕt know what is on the disks.  Thus, its like the mystery meat in the dinning commons of most colleges.  Still, some very interesting stuff here if you have lots of extra time on your hands.

This is a shadow site for Sumex-aim and Umich.  Its major assest is that both heavy hitters are available at this one site.  Why use a shadow (a mirror site)?  Simple, a peak usage times when anonymous access at Umich and Sumex is tight, Archie.au usually can get through. It is a little known site and I am, for one, glad. Its like a alley doorway into a busy storefront: no lines! 


This DA is freeware with attachments. Please do not alter the information and release it under my name! Hands off hackers! You may upload this DA and its corresponding files to any online service, BBS or Internet site so long as all files are included.

I will do my best to update this DA more than once before I sleep the final sleep!
