Subject: Death of BBSes?
Date:Sat, February 28, 1998 12:02 PM

Well, it looks (thankfully) pretty good for Apple right now (at least relatively speaking)...although Be, Inc. may be sweating a bit heavily at the moment *grin*....

But it looks like BBSes are taking a major hit from this internet "fad." Do you guys think it's a cyclical thing or what? Will BBSes come back into the mainstream eventually, or will the greater net subsume pretty much all the local telecommunications that used to form the majority of the computer telecom ethos? BBSes don't have the big interconnectivity the net does, but it seems to me they are good at filtering out the junk and giving more of a personable atmosphere....it's not so cold and heartless. You can actually get to KNOW people better on BBSes....

Any thoughts?
