Tim Conkling <mailto:conkling@mint.net>
Today, Vaporware Inc., a company run by 16-year-old C developer Tim Conkling, announced the release of the new version of its flagship product, Fairly Good Privacy. FGP (a knock-off of Phil Zimmerman's famous PGP program), which is _the_ easy-to-use text-encryption solution, has just come out of beta and now has a version number of 1.1.
The program has been applauded by its currently registered users as powerful, yet incredibly simple. It is being distributed as a fun utility, but its uses are many (the author plans to use it at school to send encrypted messages over the internal First Class server).
FGP is being distributed as register-ware. The program requires registration after 10 uses, but registration is free and easy. Sending an email to the author with the name you would like the program registered under will quickly get you a personalized registration code.
Also released today was Vaporware's new web site, an incredible improvment over the last one. To see the new site and download the new version of FGP, go to:

Inspired Logic, LLC has introduced C.D. Caterpillar, a Macintosh only program designed to help beginning readers strengthen their reading skills quickly, in a fun and non-threatening way. The software is based on the theory of Cognitive Experiential Learning, which means, simply, learning by doing. Toward that end, every aspect of C.D. Caterpillar is designed to focus the student on actual reading.
Inspired Logic, a software design and consulting firm, which has developed custom solutions for several Fortune 100 companies is now bringing its software design expertise in the area of educational software.

The controls are simple, and everything is explained verbally; no initial reading ability is assumed.
Any level reader can get started with C.D. Caterpillar. Immediate, direct assistance is always available just by clicking on the problem word. C.D. Caterpillar keeps track of the problem words, reinforcing them later in highly focused games.
Inspired Logic, LLC, based in Glendale, California was founded in 1998. The company provides software solutions for Macintosh and PC based companies. C.D. Caterpillar is the first commercial software product released by this company.

This tidbit is from:
<mailto:BaronMind@aol.com>
I was just flipping through the Winter 1999 Pottery Barn catalog, and an office armoir is featured on page 39. The cabinet doors are open to show the shelves and space for the computer. Naturally, Pottery Barn wanted to use the most attractive and photogenic model for this shoot, so what computer is in the armoir? An iMac. As Joe Duran said in EvangeList Digest #1354, "it's not earth-shaking, or, given the popularity of our wonderful new self-Evangelizing toy, even surprising." But still, it's great to see that this little beauty's everywhere!
