Network Access

SuperSync can connect to another SuperSync server to retrieve music files over a network. To connect to a SuperSync server, select Remote > Connect To Server or select the Connect to networked SuperSync server radio button and click Next. This launches a new window that configures the connection to the SuperSync server.

To connect to a networked SuperSync server, you need the host or IP address, port number, and password. Enter the address and password and click Next to proceed.

If the server is not running on port 5360, the SuperSync default, enter the IP address, a colon, then the port number, such as: 192.168.0.100:5000

Checking Remember Username and Password allows you to connect remotely without having to continuously enter your password information. Your password data will be saved in a text file in your preferences directory in a format that is difficult, but not impossible to decode. In other words, do not use nuclear launch codes for the for the password of your SuperSync server.

The next screen provides confirmation about networked SuperSync server configuration. Clicking Finish saves the networked server settings and allows SuperSync to attempt remote connection.

You can connect to a local SuperSync in one step by using the Remote > Connect to LAN server submenu.

Some of the network terminology can get a bit complex -- daap, WAN, LAP, IP, port, etc. More information is available in the server setup guide. Also, use the "Check my IP address..." help window to learn about your server's IP.
