Using File Information

TeleFinder supports gettting detailed information about specific files using the "Get Info" commands in the File menu. You can get information about files on the BBS, and about files on your local system.

 

Information about BBS Files

Select a file icon, then select "Get Info" from the File menu. TeleFinder displays the file's name, size, and the date it was created and last modified in the "Info" window. A description of the file and preview picture may also be present.

 

Click on the "Receive" button to transfer the file to your "Receive folder." The file transfer process begins immediately.

Note: You can also drag the file's icon to a specific folder to transfer it to that location, or the File Basket window to save it for later transfer.

 

Changing the Description

If you have sufficient priveleges on the BBS, the Description field wil be editable. To change the file description, enter a new description in the text field, then close the Info window to save the description.

 

Information about Local Files

Select the "Get Info Local..." command from the File menu. TeleFinder will bring up the "Open" dialog so that you can navigate to and select a file.

Select the file, then click in the Open button. TeleFinder displays the file's name, size, and the date it was created and last modified in the "Info" window. A description of the file and preview picture may also be present.

 

Changing the Description

You can change the description on any local file that is not "Write" protected. To change the file description, enter a new description in the text field, then close the Info window to save the description.

Descriptions entered this way are transmitted with files when they are transferred by TeleFinder, or copied locally with Finder.
