Cuts Weed Control Costs By Allowing MSMA To Be Sprayed Over The Top Of Young Cotton.

Studies conducted by Texas A & M University at Commerce, Texas resulted in the following statement from Don Reid, Professor of Agronomy and James Swart, Integrated Pest Management:

"Nutsedge (Cyperus spp.) continues to be a serious problem in some cotton fields in northern Texas. We have tried several programs but have been most pleased with an over-the-top application of PRO-X and MSMA. We use a mixture of a pint of PRO-X and a pint of MSMA on young cotton and repeat the application 7 - 10 days later when necessary. The PRO-X effectively eliminates any leaf burn. The Nutsedge will be suppressed long enough to allow the cotton to gain a competitive advantage. Our local growers have also been pleased with this mixture."

 

What's In PRO-X?

PRO-X is a water based spray adjuvant that contains a special blend of dispersing and complexing agents with urea nitrogen.

 

Application Information

When To Apply: When cotton is 3" tall up to 12" tall.

2 Pints....................1-1/2 - 2 Pints

Repeated Applications: Can re-spray in 7 - 10 days with a pint of MSMA and a pint of PRO-X.

Weeds Controlled: MSMA is an economical herbicide that is effective when used early for the control of the following weeds:

• Barnyard Grass
• Broadleaf Signal Grass
• Crabgrass
• Fall Panicum
• Seedling Johnson Grass
• Cocklebur
• Nutsedge

Weed Control Performance: Field results have shown that PRO-X does not reduce the weed control effectiveness of MSMA.

What Formulation Of MSMA Should Be Used? 6 lbs. MSMA with surfactant or 6.6 lbs. without surfactant.

Cost Per Acre: The one pint rate of PRO-X only costs approximately $2.00 per acre.
